Empower You Ltd complies fully with the UK Data Protection Act (DPA) of 2018, which is based on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2018. We collect general information from you; which is known as ‘personal data’, information about the reasons why you have contacted us, and notes about any counselling sessions in which you participate; this is known as ‘data concerning health’.
The data we collect will include: Your name, address, contact details and any personal, health or medical details relevant to your engagement with us. This data will be used for keeping in touch and to help us plan, discuss and contact you on matters related to our services and the counselling sessions you attend.
We will ask for your explicit permission to collect, process and store this data, and you have the right to request us to erase it at any time, to provide you with a copy or to correct any errors you identify.
Your data will be kept for a minimum of six years, or longer if this is deemed necessary by us and as permitted by the DPA.
We keep your data safe using our own personal, secure, data server and cloud-based, encrypted backup services, and we will not share your data with any third party unless it is to comply with a lawful request or you ask us to do so.
If you are still unhappy, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s office at www.ico.org.uk.
